Hire Local presents Career Launch Academy in partnership with Memphis-Shelby County Schools
The Memphis Medical District Collaborative is pleased to announce a new partnership with Memphis-Shelby County Schools which aims to increase the healthcare talent pipeline and introduce graduating seniors to healthcare careers. Hire Local’s Career Launch Academy will offer a free, six-week Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification course, soft-skills training, and job shadowing experience to graduating seniors from MSCS schools.
MMDC’s Hire Local program leverages employer, community and training partnerships to help local residents move into careers where there is a living wage, career growth opportunities, and consistent, growing demand.
Career Launch Academy CNA Training Class
The pilot session of Career Launch Academy will identify seniors interested in healthcare careers and train them for CNA jobs this fall. After completion, students who certify will have a guaranteed interview opportunity with Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. Participants also receive a $500 stipend and transportation discounts.

Who Is Eligible?
Graduating seniors from MSCS high schools with priority consideration for Manassas High School, Central High School, and Booker T. Washington High School students
18 + by May 31
Other requirements include the following: 2.0 GPA or better; good attendance (75% or better); interest in healthcare career (Certified Nursing Assistant); willingness to get vaccinated; and proof of age/birth/gender/citizenship and SSN.
