With our partners and community stakeholders, MMDC is working to improve transportation and mobility options for getting to and getting around the Medical District. Our options must work to connect people to their jobs, support people receiving care, and access the neighborhood places and public spaces in the District.

Groove On-Demand

Fast, easy, affordable rides around Downtown, the Medical District, and New Chicago. Groove On-Demand works like a minibus that comes when you want, where you want. Book a ride straight from your phone, get picked up in minutes, and access all of Downtown, the Medical District, and New Chicago. Groove On-Demand is a partnership between MMDC, DMC, and MATA.

MOBILITY RESOURCES

Transportation Management Association: Downtown/Medical District TMA Draft Plan

MMDC has partnered with the Downtown Memphis Commission to create a draft TMA Plan for Downtown and the Medical District. A “Transportation Management Association” (TMA) is a partnership between businesses, institutions, and organizations working in tandem to create a better network of transportation, mobility, and parking solutions and expanding knowledge of alternatives to commuting in a single-occupant vehicle. (This process is known as transportation-demand management.)

While MMDC has many active transportation-demand management strategies, a greater TMA partnership will help provide expansive and long-term transportation options and solutions for employers, employees, students, patients, families and visitors in the Medical District and Downtown neighborhoods. Our goal is to work together to help our communities use more mobility options as legitimate, long-term, convenient and cost-effective solutions.

Mobility Implementation Planning

The Memphis Medical District Collaborative in partnership with Innovate Memphis is working with our Anchor Partners to create a mobility plan for staff, students, and visitors to reduce the number of single occupancy vehicles coming to the District everyday to decrease this number by seven percent in the next two years. We, in collaboration with our Anchors, create an individualized plan with each institution to meet their specific needs in helping us achieve this goal. To see an example, click here.

Mobility Concierge

MMDC provided a Mobility concierge for each institution to help support the implementation of each mobility plan. Examples of concierge services are one-on-one travel planning, Lunch and Learns, Transportation Tuesdays, and Mobility Mondays.
