Business Support
MMDC will walk you through the business support options that are available to you if you are looking to start or grow your business in the Medical District. The support we provide ranges from access to capital and business planning to assisting business tenants and property owners with making improvements to their commercial buildings.
Grants & Incentives
MMDC's financial incentives are designed to put dollars where they will make the most impact for businesses and property owners. Our current incentives can be used for special events, pre-development, facade, fences, lighting and signage.
Buy Local
Connecting vendors and anchors to support local spend through one-on-one connections, a district purchasing council, and supplier diversity events. MMDC partners with anchor institutions to network, and match local, minority, women-owned businesses within Memphis and the Medical District to increase local spend across the organizations.
Hire Local
Hire Local is a partnership of MMDC participating anchor institutions, and local workforce providers in order to connect training, education, and employment opportunities to residents in and around the Memphis Medical District. Hire Local connects Medical District employers seeking local talent to Medical District residents seeking employment opportunities. To learn more about Hire Local, visit the website below.

This is where passion meets hard work. Hear about how MMDC helps drive the District forward through our incentive programs.
I am really excited about Memphis promoting minority and women-owned businesses, and promoting the growth of the arts and areas like Downtown, The Edge, and Broad.
One of the things that I learned very early on in my career is that people have to buy into you before they buy from you. People definitely want to know your story.
We have spent years- and still do- driving to different parts of Tennessee, Arkansas, St. Louis, and beyond. We go to flea markets and small areas that are exciting to work with, and we have fun finding gems and treasures.
“The area attracts many tourists from all different places- more tourists than anything.”
“I can really say the pre-development grant and the sign incentive for Spincult… the support really made the difference.”
I pretty much take advantage of everything that MMDC has to offer. I always take advantage of the incentives.
MMDC leads by supporting leaders. We believe in our business owners and residents, and pursue opportunities to help them grow and excel in the workplace.
“The people, the diversity, the love, everyone [in the District] is always trying to give out a helping and hand bring each other up.”
We love this District. It’s both our work and our home. All of what we are is in this District.
Having my youngest child, promoted me to open Ready, Set, Grow Learning Academy due to not being able to find childcare services that included all of the things that I was looking for. i.e. great price, right location, STEAM/STEM curriculum.
