The Art and Environment Initiative is a pilot program in partnership with Mural Arts Institute, Clean Memphis, Memphis Medical District Collaborative, and UAC to address environmental issues in the Frayser and Uptown neighborhoods through public art.
Khara Woods has been embedded in Uptown since last Fall to receive feedback and learn more about the environmental issues identified by residents, which was the accumulation of litter near the water basins and the effect it has on our water supply in Memphis. Her mural is a guide to identifying different types of litter and a creative blueprint for how we can all keep our neighborhoods clean.
