There are times — even when you drive a car – a backup is handy for emergencies, breakdowns, convenience, or a little diversity in your life.

To get started on your back-up plan:

  • Sign up for the RideAmigos app online to access the Guaranteed Ride Home Lyft carshare credits. Each new user will be given two free credits worth up to $8 each after signing up. Users can earn an additional two credits every 3 months by logging trips by bike, walking, transit, shuttling or carpooling in the RideAmigos app.

  • Unlock a shared option like Explore Bike Share, Bird, or Zipcar for quick trips to lunch, errands, or meetings, etc.

  • Connect to RideAmigos online to find or form a carpool, or even just to arrange an ad hoc ride.

  • Sign-up for Shelby County’s Emergency Ride Home. This will provide up to six free rides home per year in the event of an emergency. This is the perfect back-up plan for carpoolers, giving peace of mind so you can carpool with confidence.

  • Download Lyft or Uber for the most convenient and easiest alternative option. They also can be the most expensive option, but check with your employer to see if they have a Lyft or Uber promo code for discounts.

  • Talk with your Groove concierge if you want assistance planning your travel, with questions about any service, or if you have specific challenges to solve. They are experts and want to assist you.
